SCSHL Priorities presented to the 122nd South Carolina General Assembly

The first session of the 122nd South Carolina General Assembly convened in January of 2017. The second session will convene in January of 2018.

These are the SCSHL Resolutions that were presented to the General Assembly for their consideration during the 122nd General Assemply:

Be it Resolved by the South Carolina Silver Haired Legislature:

  1. That the South Carolina General Assembly enact, and the Governor sign legislation, to provide at least the amount requested by the Lieutenant Governor’s Office on Aging as recurring funding for respite for family caregivers.
  2. That the South Carolina General Assembly enact, and the Governor sign, legislation to provide funds as requested by the Lieutenant Governor’s Office on Aging for in-home and community-based services.
  3. That the South Carolina General Assembly declare recruitment and retention of certified Geriatricians a priority by passage of a budget provision that will provide $70,000 direct to lender loan forgiveness for two physicians each year who have completed training in geriatrics and who practice in South Carolina for at least five years.
